News from the unique Grand Cru vineyard:
Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Kabinett dry old vines

Ürziger Würzgarten is one of the most famous and unique vineyards on the Moselle, located in Ürzig and geologically part of the Wittlich depression. The deep, stony, copper-red slate soil (Rotliegendes) of volcanic origin is characterized by its good water and heat storage capacity as well as good aeration. The site faces south to east-southeast with a slope inclination of up to 69%.

🍷This dry, spicy and elegant Riesling from vines over 60 years old was harvested by hand. Spontaneously fermented in the cellar and matured in wooden barrels. An exotically spicy wine of great depth.

Limited Edition: VILLA HUESGEN Pinot Noir 2023

Pinot Noir is probably one of the best-known and most important red wine grape varieties in Germany. In the 19th century, around 60% of the Moselle's vineyards were planted with red grape varieties, but the cultivation of Pinot Noir was banned for a long time. It has only been allowed to be cultivated again since 1985 and today produces exceptional wines. The cool climate zone and the slate terroir of the Moselle give the wine great tension and allow it to develop its full potential.

With the 2023 vintage, we are delighted to once again offer you a VILLA HUESGEN Pinot Noir. This dry, silky, aromatic and complex Pinot Noir made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes grows on slate slopes. Carefully harvested by hand, de-stemmed and repeatedly selected for the highest quality. Spontaneous fermentation followed by 15 months of maturation in French oak barriques.

Selected good!

Early selective harvest brought best qualities

This year we had to harvest the grapes in a selective hand harvest from the very first day. Never before has our experienced team started so early, as early as mid-September, with the early varieties Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay. Never before has the harvest been finished so early. Due to the very high temperatures, the Riesling grapes ripened quickly. Targeted sorting reduced the yield, but at the same time healthy grapes with high qualities could be harvested. Strong Kabinett Rieslings from the Trabener Würzgarten, a Spätlese fruit-sweet from the Enkircher Steffensberg and once again a noble sweet Auslese from the Zeppwingert are among the pleasing results. With the 2023 vintage, we are also producing for the first time a Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Kabinett trocken and a Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Auslese as well as a Chardonnay from the Trabener Würzgarten.

VH Etik Shop PetNat

May we introduce? Our new PET NAT Riesling!

The VILLA HUESGEN PET NAT Pétillant Naturel Riesling is produced according to the original form of bottle fermentation. An unfiltered and yeast-transparent Riesling pearl wine with a delicate perlage. Wonderfully creamy. With aromas of citrus, orange peel and ripe yellow apples. A sparkling wild aperitif!

The Pet (German: Haustier) has a long tradition at the Villa: in the small rehearsal room of the Villa Huesgen, in the so-called Saufstübchen, you can find the little monkey hanging upside down from the railing. The Art Nouveau architect of the house, Bruno Möhring, loved the comic. So the witty, wild little monkey moved into the premises and has already experienced many a tingling #meandmymonkey hour with Riesling.
